A color cover on a black-and-white book
Page 1 of your file is the front cover, printed in full color on 80 lb cover stock. Put your logo, title and cover photo there. Every page after it prints in black and white, and the back cover is blank.
How color prints in grayscale
Any color inside the book prints as a shade of gray, so check images and colored text on your proof.
- Photos lose their color, and low-contrast photos can look flat.
- Two colors of similar lightness can print as the same gray, so a color-coded chart can lose its key. Label lines and bars instead.
- Pale tints and light yellow highlights can fade to near white.
- Colored text on a colored background can lose contrast.
If a page needs color to make sense, choose the color coil workbook. A mix of color and black-and-white pages in one book is a custom quote.

Send one PDF with the cover first and the interior in reading order, and keep 0.5 in clear on the coil side.

The binding edge is the left side of right-hand pages and the right side of left-hand pages.

Nothing prints until you approve a digital proof, sent the same business day we receive a complete file. You can ask for one round of changes. Production takes 1 to 3 business days after approval and payment, then we ship by USPS Ground Advantage to one address.
