Cookbook printing: spiral bound recipe books

Our cookbook printing makes spiral bound 8.5 x 11 recipe books from 10 copies, with up to 48 interior pages that lie flat on the counter. Choose full color for food photos or black and white for a text cookbook, and approve a proof before anything prints.

Why spiral binding suits a cookbook

A plastic coil lets the book open flat and fold back on itself, so it stays open on the counter while you cook. Pages turn easily, and the book survives years of use.

Family cookbooks and fundraiser cookbooks

  • Family cookbooks: collect recipes from relatives, scan handwritten cards at 600 dpi, and add family photos. Order one copy per household, plus spares for weddings and new babies.
  • Church and school fundraiser cookbooks: members submit recipes with their name under each one. Sponsor pages from local businesses can cover the print cost.
  • Restaurants, chefs and food bloggers: a short cookbook to sell at the counter or give to class students.
  • Reunions and memorials: a book of a loved one's recipes for everyone at the gathering.

Page setup

  1. Page 1 is the front cover. Then the interior pages in reading order, up to 48. Leave the back cover out; it is blank.
  2. Set pages to 8.75 x 11.25 in if photos run to the edge, or 8.5 x 11 in if not.
  3. Keep 0.5 in clear on the coil side, and text 0.25 in inside the other edges.
  4. Photos at 300 ppi at their printed size.

Start from the Coil workbook template, 8.5 x 11 in (Word) (DOCX), which has mirrored margins for the coil. Designing in Canva? See print a Canva workbook. Using Word or Google Docs? See print a workbook from Word or Google Docs.

Questions

Is the paper wipeable?

No. The 70 lb uncoated paper is good for writing notes, but it is not coated against spills.

Can the back cover be printed?

Not in this format. The back cover is blank 80 lb cover stock.

Can we add tabs for each section?

Tabs are a custom quote. Full-page section dividers in your PDF work well and cost nothing extra.

Can we reorder next year?

Yes. We keep your approved file. Send a revised file for a new proof if recipes change.
